We, Hiwin Mikrosystem Corp. and its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively “HIWIN”), are committed to protecting your privacy The privacy statement below explains what information we gather about you, what we use it for and who we share it with. It also sets out your rights and who you can contact for more information or queries.

The term “Personal Data” used in this Privacy Statement means any information that can be used to identify a natural person, by reference to an identifier such as an individual’s name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, etc. Personal Data does not include publicly available information that is lawfully made available to the general public from records by governments or government agencies.

"Site" means all websites that are created, generated, provided, maintained, managed, and hosted by HIWIN.

As a visitor, you do not have to submit any personal information in order to browse our Sites. HIWIN does not usually seek personal information, we will only, where necessary, collect and use such information when your explicit consent is obtained.

By viewing or using the services provided by our Site, you have acknowledged and agreed to the way we keep and apply your information as described in this document.

Firstly, your rights in relation to your Personal Data include the right to:

How We May Come Across Information about Your Business

With your consent, we may collect information about your business and/or you when you interact with us, for example:

  • Purchased HIWIN product or service and register as member at our Online Service Center
  • Filling out a survey, or requesting/registering to receive information about our products or services
  • Communicating with us via email, telephone, fax or other manner
  • eeting face to face or handing over your business card at a trade show, exhibition, corporate event, conference, seminar or any other event

What do We Collect & How do We Use It

With your permission, we may collect or store following information about your business and/or you by law, or to meet your requests and our legitimate business objectives. We will not use this information outside the scope set out below unless obligated by law, and will not perform third-party database matching or data-mining based on your information.

Your information is handled by our relevant personnel strictly on a need-to-know basis.

Recording Your Business Information

We do not collect Personal Data, except when you specifically and knowingly disclose such information to us. We will only store and use your business information to fulfil our contractual and legal obligations to your company, to create a secure and efficient communication framework for our customers, and to provide you with a timely and better online experience and service.

Customer Service

When you contact us to query, to make suggestions or to enquire about our products or services, we may collect your contact information for sending replies or to fulfil legal requirements. In some instances we might pass part of your business information onto other members of the HIWIN group, making sure you have the full access to our global service network and expertise.

Becoming a Member of our Online Service Center

When you register, we may ask company name, registered country, name and email of the contact person etc. of your business. We use your business information to manage our business relationships, and to satisfy your business requirements in a timely manner.

We may from time to time maintain our member database to ensure its security and relevancy, by preparing various summaries on the data for internal use only.

Customer Survey or Questionnaire

To improve our products and services, we may use your company information to send you surveys. These surveys help our legitimate interest of learning more about your experience with our products and services. Your responses to these surveys are treated as confidential information and are for our internal use only. If you do not wish to participate in a survey, you may simply decline when asked.

Product Updates and Event Notifications

We may from time to time send promotional materials, for example product updates or event notifications, to our members or those businesses, who has previously expressed interests in such materials and permitted us to send these messages using their contact detail.

Recipients of these messages have the right to unsubscribe at any time simply by contacting us , or by following the unsubscribe instructions in our communications.

Collecting Your Non-Personal Information

Our server automatically record certain non-personally identifiable information each time you visit the website. We may use cookies, server logs, scripts and other standard technology to acquire or store this anonymous information that we consider are strictly necessary to allow you to use and access our Site. The information cannot generate anything that can identify or track visitors, or anything that can be traced back to them.

By collecting such information we may better understand how people are using the Site and to improve the overall quality of our users’ online experience.

Log Files and Navigational Data

Our Sites collects standard Internet log information, a range of variables related to a visitor’s time on the website, including IP addresses, browser versions and types, internet service providers, pages visited, platform types, connection speed, etc. We may also gather technical, usage and navigational data that shows what pages are visited and how long various features are used during each visit of our Site.

Our servers may record your IP address when you visit our website. Embedded Scripts

An embedded script is a programming code that is designed to collect information about your interactions with the Site. It is temporarily downloaded onto your device from our web server, is active only while you are connected to the Sites, and is deactivated or deleted thereafter.

Our server may temporarily install such script onto the device of our Online Service Center member, to assist our member checking whether the device satisfies requirements necessary to run our online service routines.

Children’s Privacy

We understand the importance of protecting children's privacy in the interactive online world. Our Site complies with the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and all other applicable laws and regulations protecting children’s privacy on the Internet. This Site is not designed for or intentionally targeted at children 13 years of age or younger. It is not our policy to intentionally collect or maintain information about anyone under the age of 13 as required by US Law.

We do not allow persons under 18 years of age to join our online membership.

All information we collect is controlled by Hiwin Mikrosystem Corp., located at No.6, Jingke Central Rd., Precision Machinery Park, Taichung 40852, Taiwan, where our central server is also located. We do not source any third-party data storage capacities.

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, please note that we will not transfer information, including any Personal Data, to a country outside of the European Union or European Economic Area.

Sharing Your Business Information

Business information that we collect from you for a particular purpose will only be kept and used for that purpose, unless you have permitted us to use it for some other purpose, as described in this Privacy Statement. We may share some of the non-personal information with other members of HIWIN group.

We do not trade, share, rent, sell or give away information concerning you to third parties, unless when we are required to disclose such information, to the extent necessary to meet our legal obligations and the protection of HIWIN’s legitimate legal and business interests, and its rights, property and employees, to a valid public authorities, including

  • to meet national security or law enforcement enquiries;
  • to other appropriate third parties in connection with criminal investigations;
  • investigation of fraud, infringement of intellectual property rights;
  • other suspected illegal activities, or
  • otherwise may be required by applicable law, or, as are reasonably necessary.

Some of the business information may be transferred to, stored in or accessed from countries outside Taiwan. Please be assured that we will take all necessary precautions to safeguard your data and to protect your privacy in accordance of this Privacy Statement.

Data Integrity and Security

During our Online Service Center Membership registration process, except for your email address which becomes your account login ID, you can review, change or remove any information you have submitted. Our goal is to ensure that our information about you is as accurate as possible and encourage you to promptly update your information if it changes. You may, at any time, access your information to update, modify or delete any inaccuracies by accessing your account through the website.

At the same time we recommend you to keep your login and password secure and do not share them with any third party. HIWIN reserves the right to suspend your access to the member-only sites should your account be compromised, or any data breach is discovered.

Personal Data provided by or about third parties

If any information you give us relates to the Personal Data of a third party, by providing us with such data you confirm that, in line with the above provisions, you have obtained any necessary permission to use it or are otherwise permitted to give it to us.

When our customer or another third party gives us Personal Data about you, we make sure they have complied with the relevant privacy laws and regulations. This may include, for example, that the client or other third party has informed you of the processing, and has obtained any necessary permission for us to process that information as described in this privacy statement.

While visiting our Sites, you may be directed, through links, to other websites that are beyond our control. HIWIN is not responsible for the privacy practices and policies of such linked websites.

Business Transitions

In the event that HIWIN goes through a business transition, such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your business and/or personal information or usage information might be among the assets transferred. You will not be notified in advance of any such change in ownership or control of your Personal Data.
